Procreate is a powerful and popular digital illustration app designed exclusively for iPad. Yes, you absolutely need the Procreate app installed on your iPad to use bokettori brushes. They are created as .brushset files, which are specific to Procreate.
-
No, bokettori brushes are designed and saved specifically for the Procreate app on iPad (as .brushset files). They are not compatible with other software like Photoshop, Illustrator, Clip Studio Paint, Affinity Designer, or any desktop programs. You'll need Procreate on an iPad to use them.

While Procreate can be used with your finger, I highly recommend using an Apple Pencil (or a compatible pressure-sensitive stylus) for the best experience with bokettori embroidery brushes. Many of the brushes are pressure-sensitive, meaning the thickness, texture, or effect of the "stitch" can change depending on how hard you press. An Apple Pencil will give you the most control and allow you to achieve the most realistic and nuanced embroidery effects. You can use them without, but the results might not be as dynamic.

These are digital representations designed to beautifully mimic the look and feel of real, hand-stitched embroidery within the Procreate app. What makes them special is that the core textures and stitch patterns are sourced and meticulously crafted from high-resolution photos of actual physical embroidery samples. No AI was used in the creation of the brushes.

Installing brushes (.brushset files) and palettes (.swatches files) in Procreate is super easy!
- Download: After purchasing/downloading, save the file(s) to your iPad's 'Files' app (often in your 'Downloads' folder or 'On My iPad'). If it's a .zip file, tap it once in the Files app to unzip it first.
- Locate: Open the 'Files' app and find your .brushset or .swatches file.
- Tap: Simply tap once on the file.
- Import: Procreate will automatically open and import the asset.
- Brushes: New brush sets usually appear at the top of your Brush Library list.
- Palettes: New palettes typically appear at the bottom of the 'Palettes' tab in your Color Panel.
-
No problem! iPads handle .zip files very easily.
- Locate the downloaded .zip file in your iPad's 'Files' app.
- Simply tap once on the .zip file.
- Your iPad will automatically create a new, unzipped folder right next to the .zip file, containing all the brushes, palettes, or other files that were inside. You can then access those individual files.
